I’d like to open with a short dialogue about economics and foreign policy…just kidding…it’s Big Brother time!! Ahhh, yes, Big Brother time. It’s that time of year when you find yourself debating with complete strangers online about people you have no personal connection to in real life. A time of year where you may find yourself overusing words like, “floater” or “backstabber” or “comp” or “HOH” or “POV”, etc. Must be middle of July.

Welcome back to another season of BB everyone. Now that last season is in the distant rearview (thank goodness), it’s time for a whole new (kinda) cast to prove their worthiness to all of us bird watchers.

So let’s dive right in and interpret one of the easiest events in American history…the first BB show of the season. The big addition this season…mentors. I guess there’s no way around it. BB is just fixated on having to bring back past HGs. Personally, I have no interest in return guests. That being said, I don’t really have much of an issue with the people BB chose (maybe Britney…but her “smile” goes a long way with me). As far as the actual mentor twist goes…I’m not set in stone yet…but I don’t think I like it. On another note, I will say this season seems to be turbo blasting into the planning and strategy zone right out of the gate compared to past seasons…and that’s a good thing. Whether having the “mentors” on board serve as the major catalyst, remains to be seen. One thing is for sure, if the mentor twist doesn’t play well on the editing floor, don’t be surprised to see it scraped mid season and see the mentors turn competitors.

At first glance, this year’s cast, as a whole, seems to have their priorities in order. I have not yet heard mention of All Stars but give it time for the egos to hatch. Side note, “one ‘L” Wil”, could possibly have the nicest looking hair in Big Brother history…hope JoJo doesn’t pull it out. Enjoy the season!
